Hadith 11280

Mujahid says: An old man who had experienced the Age of Ignorance narrated to us while we were at the Battle of Rudis. This old man was called Ibn ‘Abas. He said: I was driving a cow belonging to my family when I heard this voice from its belly: "O family of Dharih! This is eloquent speech; a man is proclaiming LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH." Then, when we came to Mecca, we found the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the state that he had already proclaimed prophethood in Mecca.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From this chapter, it is understood that even inanimate objects were aware of the Prophethood and Messengership of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). And in Makkah, a stone used to greet the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) before his Prophethood.

From this, it is also understood that if Allah wills, He can grant the power of speech to inanimate objects as well.

Furthermore, it is understood that among the signs of the Hour is also this: before the Day of Judgment, beasts—that is, animals—will converse with humans just as humans do, and if Allah wills, He can grant animals the power of speech as well, as the wolf conversed with the shepherd.
