It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In place of the Torah, I have been given the Seven Long Surahs (Sab’ Tiwal); in place of the Psalms (Zabur), the Mi’in; in place of the Gospel (Injil), the Mathani; and through the detailed Surahs (Mufassal), I have been given superiority over the rest of the Prophets.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The chapters (surahs) of the Noble Qur’an are of four types:
(1) Tiwal: There are seven of these—al-Baqarah, Aal Imran, al-Nisa’, al-Ma’idah, al-An’am, al-A’raf, and al-Anfal and al-Bara’ah (Surah al-Anfal and Surah al-Bara’ah) are counted as one.
(2) Al-Mi’in: Those surahs whose verses are more than one hundred or close to that number.
(3) Al-Mathani: Those surahs which come in number after the Mi’in. They are called Mathani because, compared to the Tiwal and Mi’in, they are recited repeatedly.
(4) Al-Mufassal: Their beginning is from Surah Qaf or Surah Hujurat. These are further divided into three sections: Tiwal Mufassal: From Surah Qaf or Surah Hujurat up to Surah Naba’ or Surah Buruj. Awsat Mufassal: From Surah Naba’ or Surah Buruj up to Surah Duha or Surah Bayyinah. Qisar Mufassal: From Surah Duha or Surah Bayyinah to the end of the Qur’an.
