Hadith 11243

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that a goat was cooked. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Bring me the meat of its foreleg. They brought it to him, peace and blessings be upon him. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Bring me the meat of its other foreleg. They brought that also to him, peace and blessings be upon him. He, peace and blessings be upon him, then said again: Bring me the meat of its foreleg. This time, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, submitted: O Messenger of Allah! A goat has only two forelegs. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Beware! If you had kept searching, you would have found even more.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi‘ radi Allahu anhu, who says: “A roasted sheep was prepared for the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and it was brought to him. He said to me: ‘O Abu Rafi‘! Hand me the foreleg (dhira‘).’ So I handed it to him. He said: ‘O Abu Rafi‘! Hand me the foreleg.’ So I handed it to him. Then he said: ‘O Abu Rafi‘! Hand me the foreleg.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Does a sheep have anything but two forelegs?’ He said: ‘If you had remained silent, you would have continued handing me from it whatever I asked for.’ He (Abu Rafi‘) said: And the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to like the foreleg.”

… Roasted mutton was prepared for the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and brought to him. Sayyiduna Abu Rafi‘ radi Allahu anhu says: The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to me, “O Abu Rafi‘! Hand me the foreleg.” I handed it to him. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “O Abu Rafi‘! Hand me another foreleg.” I handed that too. Then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “O Abu Rafi‘! Hand me another foreleg.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! A sheep has only two forelegs.” The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “If you had remained silent, you would have continued handing me as many forelegs as I asked for.” In reality, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was very fond of the meat of the foreleg. (Musnad Ahmad: 24360, Mu‘jam Kabir Tabarani: 23859) This was a miracle of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that more than two forelegs would be taken out from the pot.
