Simak says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him): Did you have the honor of attending the gatherings of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was mostly silent and laughed little. The noble Companions, in his presence, would mention poetry and matters related to their affairs and would laugh, and sometimes he (peace and blessings be upon him) would smile.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Without any doubt, the general worldly principle is that only that leader is considered honorable among his people who is at least serious and dignified. From this, one should realize the leadership and headship of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and the qualities of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was neither always in a jovial mood nor did he completely mingle and participate in every happiness and enjoyment.
