It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was sitting in the shade of my house when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me. When I saw him, I rushed towards him and began to walk behind him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Come closer. So I came near to him, and he took my hand until he reached the chamber of his wife, Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) or Sayyida Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered, and then he permitted me to enter as well. I entered, and she was behind a veil. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked his wife: Do you have anything to eat? She replied: Yes. Then three loaves of bread were presented before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and placed on the dining cloth. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Is there any curry? She replied: Nothing except vinegar. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring that. So she presented that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed one loaf before himself and one before me, and broke the third into two pieces, placing one before himself and one before me.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This was the simple manner of hospitality, but whatever was available would be presented without any formality. This is true blessing, this is true felicity. If only we too could understand the value and worth of a guest without personal acquaintance, and fulfill the right of hospitality according to our means.
