Hadith 11182

قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا ذَا الْأُذُنَيْنِ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: O two-eared one.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is possible that the ears of Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu were either small or large, and thus the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam called him from that row based on this particular characteristic; in this regard, it would be a light jest. It is also possible that Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu used to listen to the words of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with greater attention, and for this reason, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam spoke words of praise regarding him. There is also the possibility that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam wanted to alert him to always be prepared to listen to his words.
