It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage: "O people! What day is this?" The Companions said: "It is a sacred day." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What city is this?" The Companions said: "It is a sacred city." He (peace and blessings be upon him) then asked: "What month is this?" The Companions said: "It is a sacred month." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your wealth, your blood, and your honor are as sacred to one another as the sanctity of this day, in this city, in this month." He repeated these words several times. After that, he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head towards the sky and said several times: "Have I conveyed the message to the people?" Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "By Allah! This was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusting Allah with a will regarding the rights of the Ummah." After this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware! Those who are present should convey these words to those who are not present. O people! Do not become disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the narration of Sahih Bukhari, it is clarified that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam delivered this sermon on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah.
The meaning of these ahadith is that we should at least show such regard and respect for the life, wealth, and honor of a Muslim that they are not affected by any of our actions. How beautifully and explicitly the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, by asking three different questions, set the introduction and then repeatedly clarified the sanctity of a Muslim’s blood, wealth, and honor. However, the situation is such that in our society, there is absolutely no consideration for wealth and honor. It is a separate matter that, by the grace and mercy of Allah Ta’ala, the common Muslim remains safe from the crime of murder, although murder and bloodshed are also widespread.
