It is narrated from Abdullah bin Harith, he says: I performed Umrah in the company of Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) during the caliphate of either Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) or Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). He stayed as a guest at the house of his sister, Sayyida Umm Hani bint Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with her). When he finished Umrah, water was arranged for his bath, so he performed ghusl. When he finished bathing, some people from Iraq came to meet him. They said: O Abu al-Hasan! We have come to ask you about something; we want you to tell us about it. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I think that Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) must have told you that he was the last person to touch the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? They said: Yes, we have come to ask you about this. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The honor of being the last to touch the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) belonged to Sayyiduna Qutham bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Those who entered the grave to lower the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam into it, among them the last to come out of the grave was Sayyiduna Qutham radi Allahu anhu. However, Sayyiduna Mughirah radi Allahu anhu had to enter the grave again, and thus the honor of being the very last to touch the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam belonged to him.
