It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away between my neck and chest, on the day it was my turn. On that day, I did not wrong anyone in any way; it was my ignorance and youth that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my lap. Then I placed his blessed head on a pillow and joined the women in weeping and began striking my face with my hands.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By striking the face is not meant beating; rather, like other noble Companions, Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha radi Allahu anha had certain special circumstances that increased her grief. She was the most beloved wife of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and at that time she was only eighteen years old. Therefore, she was overcome with intense sorrow, and in that state, she must have touched her face with her hands in such a manner that it does not constitute the prohibited form.
