Abdur Rahman bin Abdullah bin Ka'b narrates from his mother, Sayyidah Umm Mubashir (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during the days of his final illness. I said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, what is your opinion about yourself? That is, in your view, what is the cause of your illness? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I do not doubt anything except that food which I ate at Khaybar (it seems to be its effect). Umm Mubashir's son (Mubashir, may Allah be pleased with him) was also with you (peace and blessings be upon him) in that meal, and he passed away due to that poisonous food. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Other than this, I do not doubt anything else; now the time has come for my jugular vein to be cut, that is, the last moment of life has arrived.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Salam bin Mishkam’s wife, Zainab bint al-Harith, was a Jewish woman. On the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, she mixed poison into a goat and presented it before the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and the Companions. See Hadith number (10819).
The following narration is a corroborating witness (shahid) for this hadith, which Imam Bukhari has mentioned in a suspended (mu‘allaq) form, and Imam Bazzar and Imam Hakim have narrated it with a connected (mawsul) chain:
Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha says: “The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to say during the illness in which he passed away: ‘O Aisha! I continue to feel the pain from the food that I ate at Khaybar, and now is the time when I feel my jugular vein being severed because of that poison.’” … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said during his final illness: “O Aisha! I have always felt the pain from the poisonous food I ate at Khaybar, and now, due to that poison, the time has come that my life’s vein has been cut.”
