بَابُ هَلْ أَوْضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِشَيْءٍ أَمْ لَا؟ وَهَلْ عَهِدَ لَاحَدٍ بِالْخَلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ أم لا؟Chapter on Whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Made a Bequest or Not, and Whether He Appointed Anyone to the Caliphate After Him or Not

عَنْ طَلْحَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَوْصَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا قُلْتُ فَكَيْفَ أَمَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِالْوَصِيَّةِ وَلَمْ يُوصِ قَالَ أَوْصَى بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said to Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abi Awf (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) make any bequest? He said: He did not. I said: Then why did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) command the believers to make a bequest, while he himself did not make one? He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a bequest regarding the Book of Allah (i.e., to hold firmly to it).

Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam continued to guide his ummah until the end of his blessed life; therefore, near his passing, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave instructions regarding several matters.
