(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was in his final illness, he said: "Call Abu Bakr and his son to me, and let the writer write, so that no greedy or desirous person may covet or wish for the caliphate of Abu Bakr." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself said twice: "Allah and the people of Islam will not accept (anyone other than Abu Bakr)." Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: (It happened as such and) Allah and the Muslims and the believers refused, except that my father (became the caliph), so then my father became (the caliph).! In this chain, there is a narrator whose father's name is also Abu Bakr; at this place, the son of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), Abdur Rahman, is not meant. (Abdullah Rafiq)
