بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي حَج أَبِي بَكْرِ رضي الله عنه وَبَعْثِ عَلَى رضي الله عنه إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ بِبَرَائَةٍChapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Hajj of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Sending of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to the People of Mecca with the Declaration of Disassociation

عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بِبَرَاءَةٍ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ قَالَ لَا يَبْلُغُهَا إِلَّا أَنَا أَوْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي فَبَعَثَ بِهَا مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) sent him along with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) for the proclamation of Bara’ah. When they reached the place of Dhu’l-Hulayfah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: This proclamation before the people of Makkah can only be made by myself or someone from my family. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) sent Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) after them with this message.
