It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he states: On the day of Hunayn, I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). People began to turn their backs and flee, leaving the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) alone in the field. Only eighty Muhajirin and Ansar remained with him. We had retreated about eighty steps on our feet, but we had not turned our backs to the disbelievers. Upon these people, Allah Almighty sent tranquility, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to advance, mounted on his mule. His mule shied, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was slightly lifted from its saddle. I said to him: Remain steady, may Allah raise you even higher. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hand me a handful of dust. He threw that dust towards the faces of the disbelievers, and their eyes were filled with dust. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Where are the Muhajirin and Ansar? I replied: They are over there. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Call them loudly. I called them loudly, and they all came, their swords in their hands. It seemed as if they were flames of fire. After that, the polytheists turned their backs and fled.
