عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ انْطَلِقُوا إِلَى يَهُودَ فَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى جِئْنَا بَيْتَ الْمِدْرَاسِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَادَاهُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ أَسْلِمُوا تَسْلَمُوا فَقَالُوا قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ ذَاكَ أُرِيدُ ثُمَّ قَالَهَا الثَّالِثَةَ فَقَالَ اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُجْلِيَكُمْ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَرْضِ فَمَنْ وَجَدَ مِنْكُمْ بِمَالِهِ شَيْئًا فَلْيَبِعْهُ وَإِلَّا فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَرَسُولِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were in the mosque when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: Let us go to the Jews. So we went with him and reached their Bayt al-Madras. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood there and said to those Jews: O Jews! Accept Islam, you will find peace. They said: O Abu al-Qasim! You have conveyed your message to us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I also want you to acknowledge that I have indeed conveyed my message to you. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said for the third time: Remember that this land belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and I want to expel you from this land. So whoever among you can sell his property, let him sell it, otherwise remember that this land belongs to Allah and His Messenger.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … After the exile of Banu Nadir and the killing of Banu Qurayzah, the Jews who remained in Madinah were addressed by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, such as the Jews of Banu Qaynuqa. This announcement was made at the time of the conquest of Khaybar.
O Jews! Accept Islam, you will attain safety. This is among the comprehensive statements of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. However, when the accursed and thick-headed Jews understood that the purpose of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was to invite them to Islam, and they disliked this statement, they said to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that you have conveyed your message to us. Then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam clarified the matter completely.
