Hadith 10739

وَعَنْهُ أَنَّ قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ حُمِلُوا مِنْ مَكَانِهِمْ فَنَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ رُدُّوا الْقَتْلَى إِلَى مَضَاجِعِهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the martyrs of Uhud were being taken from there towards Madinah Munawwarah, a proclaimer from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, made an announcement that these slain ones should be brought back to their place, that is, the field of Uhud.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Apart from the martyr (shaheed), other deceased individuals may be transferred to different locations, because there is no narration regarding this matter that would impose such a restriction, whereas the basic principle is permissibility. Sayyiduna Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas and Sayyiduna Sa'id ibn Zayd (radi Allahu anhuma) passed away at the place of ‘Aqiq, and they were brought to Madinah Munawwarah and buried there.
