It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Uhud, the tooth between the two front teeth and the canine of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was martyred, and his blessed face was so wounded that blood flowed over his face. During this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "How can a people succeed who have treated their Prophet in this way, while that Prophet was calling them towards their Lord?" Upon this, the following noble verse was revealed: {لَیْسَ لَکَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَیْئٌ أَوْ یَتُوبَ عَلَیْہِمْ أَوْ یُعَذِّبَہُمْ فَإِنَّہُمْ ظَالِمُونَ} … "You have no authority in this matter; it is up to Allah whether He turns towards them or punishes them, for indeed they are wrongdoers."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In reality, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam expressed despair regarding the guidance of those people, but Allah Ta'ala, through this verse, made it clear that granting guidance to these disbelievers or making any kind of decision regarding their matter is entirely within the authority of Allah Ta'ala.

Those people about whom the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was saying, "How will they ever succeed?"—most of them eventually embraced Islam.
