It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that at Badr, when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the slain chiefs of Quraysh—Utbah, Abu Jahl, and their companions—who had been thrown into a well, he (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped there and said: "You are a people who were extremely opposed to a Prophet and greatly denied him. Allah has given you a very evil recompense. Whatever I am saying to them, you are not hearing my words more than they are." Or the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are understanding my words more than you are."
