It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that on the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was seated inside his tent. He, peace and blessings be upon him, supplicated as follows: "O Allah! I remind You of the promise You made. O Allah! If You will that You are not worshipped after today (then grant our opponents dominance over us and have us killed at their hands)." At that moment, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, took hold of the hand of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah! You have supplicated abundantly to your Lord, and that is sufficient." The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was leaping with joy in his shirt and saying {سَیُہْزَمُالْجَمْعُوَیُوَلُّونَالدُّبُرَ} … Soon the enemy parties of the Muslims will be defeated, and they will turn their backs and flee.
