It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I prepared Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) when she was being sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and a few other women were with me. By Allah! We found no hospitality at the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) except a bowl of milk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and then handed it to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She felt shy to drink because she was a bride, but we said: Do not return the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) like this, and take the bowl from him. So, she took the bowl hesitantly and drank from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give it to your friends. We said: We do not need it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not combine lying and hunger. I said: O Messenger of Allah! If any of us needs something but says, “I do not need it,” will that also be written as a lie? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A lie is written as a lie, and a small lie is written as a small lie.
It is narrated from Shahr bin Hawshab that one day he went to a woman from the tribe of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, Sayyida Asma bint Yazid bin Sakan (may Allah be pleased with her). She presented food before him, so he said that he did not desire to eat. She said: I prepared Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) at the time of her marriage when she was being sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then I went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and called him to meet Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). He came and sat beside her. A bowl of milk was presented. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and then gave the remainder to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She lowered her head and felt shy. Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I scolded Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: Take the bowl from the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So, she took the bowl and drank a little from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Give it to your friend. Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I said: O Messenger of Allah! You take it and drink, then grant it to me. So, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the bowl, drank from it, and then handed it to me. She says: I sat down, placed it on my knee, and began to turn it and put my lips on it so that my lips would touch the blessed place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his mouth. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards the women present with me and said: Give it to them too. They said: We do not need it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not combine lying and hunger. Will you not refrain from saying, “I do not need it”? I said: O mother! I will not say so in the future.
