Hadith 10672

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me in the month of Shawwal (before migration) and my marriage was consummated in the month of Shawwal (after migration). So which wife was dearer to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than me? And Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) liked that the women of her family should be married in the month of Shawwal.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … See Hadith number (10552), this is a lengthy hadith, in which, as well as in the chapter of this hadith, the marriage of Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha is mentioned.
In the era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), it was considered undesirable to marry in the month of Shawwal; this was a false notion and a baseless belief. Imam Nawawi said: From this hadith, it is understood that contracting marriage (nikah) and marrying in the month of Shawwal is recommended (mustahabb). Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha, by mentioning Shawwal, is in fact refuting the superstitions of the Jahiliyyah.
