It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Surah Nasr {اِذَا جَائَ نَصْرُ اللّٰہِ وَالْفَتْحُ وَرَأَیْتَ النَّاسَ} was revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited it in full and then said: "People are one group, and I and my companions are another group." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: "After the conquest of Makkah, there is no migration, but jihad and intention remain." Marwan said to Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him): "You are lying," while Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij and Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with them both) were also present with him and were sitting on the couch with him. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "If these two wish, they can also narrate this hadith to you, but he fears losing the leadership of his people and fears losing the responsibility of collecting zakat and charity." So both of them remained silent, but when Marwan got up to whip Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) and they saw this action, they said: "Abu Sa'id Khudri is telling the truth."
