Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In terminology, moving from the abode of disbelief (dar al-kufr) to the abode of Islam (dar al-Islam) is called hijrah, just as in the blessed era of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum left their respective regions—especially the Muslims of Makkah migrated towards Madinah Munawwarah. However, it should be remembered that a Muslim bids farewell to his homeland in order to safeguard his Islam, and the real objective of hijrah is to remain protected from evils. If a person, despite performing hijrah, does not refrain from disobeying Allah ta‘ala, then his hijrah is of no benefit to him. In this regard, abstaining from matters prohibited by Allah ta‘ala is the real hijrah, or it is the fundamental purpose of hijrah.
