It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I would run among the children and we would be saying: Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has come, so I would run, but no one would be seen. Then when I would hear the children saying: Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has come, I would run, but nothing would be seen. Eventually, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companion, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), arrived. At that time, we were in some of the harrahs of Madinah. Then a man sent us to inform the Ansar of the arrival of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). So about five hundred Ansar came and reached these two personalities and said: Both of you proceed forward in peace and security. Thus, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companion both headed towards Madinah Munawwarah. The people of Madinah came out from there, until even the virgin girls climbed onto the rooftops of the houses and began to say: Which one among them is Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? Which one among them is Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? On that day, we saw such a scene that (in joy and happiness) cannot be compared to anything else. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw the day when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived, and I also saw the day when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away. So on that day too, I saw such a scene that (in grief and sorrow) cannot be compared to anything else.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyidah Aishah radi Allahu anha narrated a lengthy hadith regarding the Hijrah, in which it is mentioned: “The Muslims in Madinah heard about the departure of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam from Makkah, so every morning they would go out to the area of Harrah and wait for him until the heat of midday would drive them back. One day, after they had waited a long time, they returned, and when they had entered their homes, a man from among the Jews ascended one of their forts for some purpose and saw the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and his companions, all dressed in white, such that the mirage was dissipated by them. The Jew could not restrain himself and cried out in a loud voice: ‘O assembly of Arabs! Here is your fortune for which you have been waiting!’ The Muslims rushed to their weapons and went out to receive the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam behind Harrah. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then turned with them towards the right until he stopped among the Banu Amr ibn Awf, and that was on a Monday in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal. Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu stood up before the people, and the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sat silently. Those of the Ansar who had not seen the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would come and greet Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu (thinking he was Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), until the sun fell upon the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu came forward and shaded him with his cloak. At that, the people recognized the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam remained among the Banu Amr ibn Awf for a little more than ten nights, and there the mosque whose foundation was laid upon piety was established, and the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam prayed in it. Then he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mounted his she-camel and set out, with the people walking alongside him, until the she-camel sat down at the place of the Messenger’s Mosque sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in Madinah. …”

The Muslims of Madinah had heard the news of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam’s departure from Makkah, so every morning they would come to the area of Harrah (to welcome him) and would wait for him until the heat of midday forced them to return. One day, after a long wait, they returned, and when they reached their homes, by coincidence, a Jew climbed a hill in Madinah to look for something and saw the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and his companions dressed in white (garments), such that the mirage was hidden by them. The Jew, unable to restrain himself, cried out in a loud voice: “O assembly of Arabs! Here is your fortune and objective, the one you have been waiting for.” Upon hearing this, the Muslims rushed out with their weapons and welcomed the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam behind Harrah. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam took the path to the right with all of them, until he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stayed among the Banu Amr ibn Awf on Monday in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal. Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu stood before the people, and the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam remained seated silently. Those Ansar who had not seen the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would come and greet Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu (thinking he was Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), until the sun fell upon the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu came forward and shaded the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with his cloak. At that moment, the people recognized the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stayed among the Banu Amr ibn Awf for a little more than ten days, and there the foundation of the mosque was laid, whose foundation is upon piety, and in it the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam prayed. Then he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mounted his she-camel and set out, with the people walking alongside him, until the she-camel sat down in Madinah at the place where now is the Prophet’s Mosque, and at that time some Muslims were praying there, and that land belonged to two orphan boys, … .
