Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra) and I reached Makkah in the morning, I became anxious and realized that people would belie me, so you sat in seclusion, saddened. The enemy of Allah, Abu Jahl, passed by you, he came and sat near you and, mocking, said: Has something happened? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He said: What has happened? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was taken on a Night Journey last night. He said: Up to where? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Up to Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). He said: Then in the morning you also reached us? You said: Yes. Abu Jahl thought that he would not belie him immediately, lest he call his people and (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) refuse to narrate his statement. Therefore, Abu Jahl said: If I call your people, will you narrate this conversation before them? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He said: O assembly of Banu Ka'b bin Lu'ayy, come here. All the gatherings rushed towards him, they all came and sat with the two of them. Abu Jahl said: (O Muhammad!) The thing you narrated to me, narrate it to them as well. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was taken on a Night Journey last night. They said: Up to where? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Up to Bayt al-Maqdis. They said: Then in the morning you also reached here? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. (Upon hearing this) some started clapping and some, astonished at what they considered a lie, sat holding their heads. Then they said: Can you describe the signs of Masjid al-Aqsa? Some of them had traveled to that area and had seen Masjid al-Aqsa. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I began to describe its signs, but regarding some signs, I began to feel some confusion and uncertainty. You said: The (image of) Masjid al-Aqsa was brought and placed near the house of Iqal or Aqil, I saw it and described its signs, yet I could not remember some signs. The people said: As for the matter of the signs, by Allah, you have described them correctly.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … After the Isra and Mi'raj, Allah Ta'ala granted the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam a miracle, such that a representation of Bayt al-Maqdis was presented before him, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam described its signs in such a manner that those who were astonished and those who mocked were left speechless.

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was taken on the Night Journey (Isra) towards Bayt al-Maqdis, then he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam returned the same night and informed the people about his journey, the signs of Bayt al-Maqdis, and about their caravans. The people said: Should we affirm what Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) says? Then they persisted in disbelief. So Allah Ta'ala (on the occasion of the Battle of Badr) made their necks clash with that of Abu Jahl. Abu Jahl (mockingly) said: Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) frightens us with the tree of Zaqqum, bring it, and eat dates and butter (in the African language, dates and butter were called Zaqqum). The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saw the Dajjal not in a dream, but with his own eyes in his real form, and he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also saw 'Isa, Musa, and Ibrahim (alayhimussalam). Then, when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was asked about the Dajjal, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: He was large-bodied and extremely white in complexion, one of his eyes was so protruding that it was as if it were a shining star, the hair on his head (was so much that) it seemed like the branches of a tree. I saw 'Isa alayhis salam, he was a young man of white complexion, with curly hair, sharp-sighted and with a slim, flat belly. I saw Musa alayhis salam, he was of a dark wheat complexion and had thick hair. Hasan, the narrator, said: His hair was coarse. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: And I saw Ibrahim alayhis salam, so whichever limb of his I saw, it seemed as if I was looking at my own limb, as if he was just like your companion (Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
