عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِمًا حَتَّى هَمَمْتُ بِأَمْرٍ سَوْءٍ، قُلْنَا: وَمَا هَمَمْتَ بِهِ؟ قَالَ: هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَجْلِسَ وَأَدَعَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I prayed with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one night, and he stood in prayer for so long that I intended to do something bad. We asked: What bad thing did you intend? He said: I intended to sit down and leave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing.
