Hadith 10538

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: There were idols on the Ka'bah. First, I tried to lift the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, but I did not have enough strength. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, lifted me up and I broke them. If I had wanted, I could have touched the sky.

Benefits: … The idols were toppled by you, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, as is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, radi Allahu anhu. He says: "The Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, entered Makkah, and around the Ka'bah there were three hundred and sixty idols. He began to strike them with a stick that was in his hand, and he kept reciting: {وَقُلْ جَاء َ الْحَقُّ وَزَہَقَ الْبَاطِلُ اِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ کَانَ زَہُوْقًا۔} … The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, entered Makkah while there were three hundred and sixty idols around the House of Allah. He was poking them with a stick he held in his hand and reciting this verse: {وَقُلْ جَاء َ الْحَقُّ وَزَہَقَ الْبَاطِلُ اِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ کَانَ زَہُوْقًا۔} … 'And say: Truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is ever bound to vanish.' [سورۂ اسرائ: ۸۱] (Sahih Bukhari: 2298)
