It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the people of Makkah asked the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for a sign. In response, the moon was split. This incident occurred twice in Makkah. Then Allah Almighty said: The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split. If they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "This is ongoing magic." (Surah Al-Qamar: 1, 2)

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In several verses, this concept has been stated that the Day of Judgment is near and the world is about to end, as is being said in the first verse of Surah al-Qamar.
The people of Makkah requested a miracle from the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, upon which the moon was split in two on two occasions, the mention of which is found in these two verses. However, instead of believing, their response was that magic had been cast upon their eyes. This incident occurred before the Hijrah, and its mention and details are found in numerous ahadith.
