(Second chain) Sayyiduna Rabi’ah bin ‘Abad Daili (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was a young man and while walking with my father, I was watching the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to the tribes, and behind him was a handsome man with a squint in his eye, whose hair hung down to his shoulders. The Messenger of Allah would stop at each tribe and say: “O Banu so-and-so! I am Allah’s Messenger to you. I command you to worship Allah, not to associate anything with Him, and to affirm me, so that I may convey to you the message with which Allah has sent me.” When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his words, the man behind him would begin to say: “O Banu so-and-so! This man intends that you abandon Lat and ‘Uzza and your allies from Banu Malik bin Uqays, and adopt this innovation and misguidance that he has brought. So do not listen to him and do not follow him.” I asked my father: “Who is this man?” He said: “This is the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Abu Lahab.”
