It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, he says: When Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And warn your close relatives," the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came to the hill of Safa and, having climbed it, called out: "Ya Sabahah!" So people gathered around him, some came themselves and some sent their messengers. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Banu Abdul Muttalib! O Banu Fihr! O Banu Lu'ayy! What do you think, if I were to inform you that there is an army at the foot of this mountain intending to launch a sudden attack on you, would you believe me?" They said: "Yes." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then I am a warner to you before a severe punishment." Upon hearing this, Abu Lahab said: "May you perish for the rest of the day! Did you call us together for this purpose?" At this, Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he!"

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The truthfulness of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was well-established, but when he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam spoke this word of goodness, their obstinacy overcame them.
Abu Lahab and his wife—both were unfortunate; their destruction has been mentioned in Surah Lahab.
Abu Lahab was the worst enemy of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam; he was always intent on causing harm, inflicting pain, and bringing loss. Please refer to the next chapter.
In this world, the destruction of this wretch occurred in such a way that a few days after the Battle of Badr, he contracted a disease called ‘adsiya, in which a swelling appears similar to the plague. He died from this very illness. His corpse remained lying for three days, until it became extremely foul-smelling. Eventually, out of fear of the disease spreading and the shame, his sons buried him by throwing stones and earth from a distance over his body.
