عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي نَحْوَ الرُّكْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَصْدَعَ بِمَا يُؤْمَرُ وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ {فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ}
It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting (the Qur'an), and he would pray facing the Black Stone, and he had not yet announced that which he had been commanded to announce, and the polytheists would hear this verse: {فَبِاَیِّ آلائِ رَبِّکُمَا تُکَذِّبَانِ}.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam began his call and preaching, many fortunate people hastened to accept it and brought faith in him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Among them, the very first name is that of Sayyidah Khadijah radi Allahu anha; being his sallallahu alayhi wa sallam’s wife, she knew his exalted character and high morals better than anyone else.

As soon as the initial verses of Surah al-Muddathir were revealed, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam went to his beloved friend Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu and, informing him of his prophethood and messengership, invited him to faith. He accepted faith without hesitation and immediately bore witness to the truth. Among the earliest to accept faith was also Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, who was under the care of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Similarly, among the first fortunate ones was the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Sayyiduna Zayd bin Harithah radi Allahu anhu, whom the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had adopted as a son.

After this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu also became active in preaching and, in fulfilling the right of messengership, became the right hand of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Through him, people such as Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan radi Allahu anhu, Sayyiduna Zubayr bin al-Awwam radi Allahu anhu, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf radi Allahu anhu, Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas radi Allahu anhu, Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah radi Allahu anhu, and Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah radi Allahu anhu began to be honored with Islam.
