Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Sayyiduna Harith bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "How does revelation come to you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Sometimes the angel comes to me with a sound like the ringing of a bell. This state is very hard on me, but when he departs from me, I remember what he has said. And sometimes the angel comes in the form of a man, and then he speaks to me and I remember what he says."
