Ata bin Yasar says: I met Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said to him: Tell me the attributes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as described in the Torah. He said: Yes, certainly. By Allah! Just as his attributes are described in the Noble Qur’an, so are they described in the Torah. As it is in the Torah: O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings, a warner, and a means of protection for the unlettered people. You are My servant and My messenger. I have named you “Al-Mutawakkil” (the one who relies on Allah). You are neither ill-tempered, nor harsh-natured, nor one who raises his voice in the markets, nor do you repay evil with evil, rather you forgive and pardon. Allah, the Exalted, will not cause this Prophet to die until He straightens the crooked nation through him, so that they say: “There is no god but Allah.” Thus, through him, He will open blind eyes, deaf ears, and closed hearts.
