Syedna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the owners of camels and goats boasted to one another in the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Pride and arrogance are found among the owners of camels, and tranquility and dignity are found among the owners of goats. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Musa (peace be upon him) was appointed (as a prophet), he used to graze his family's goats, and when I was appointed (as a prophet), I used to graze my family's goats at Ji'ad.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This hadith describes the simplicity and lack of ostentation of the noble Prophets. Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah writes: The scholars of the religion hold the view that the reason the noble Prophets herded sheep was so that humility and modesty would develop within them, their hearts would become accustomed to solitude, and by managing and organizing sheep, it would become easier for them to take charge of the affairs of people. Meanwhile, Imam Kirmani, quoting from Imam Khattabi, says: Imam Bukhari wishes to clarify that Allah Ta'ala did not select the worshippers of the world and those immersed in luxury and comfort for prophethood and messengership, but rather bestowed this blessing upon those who were humble, such as shepherds and professional laborers.
