عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَفْسَهُ أَسْمَاءً مِنْهَا مَا حَفِظْنَا فَقَالَ ((أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْمَدُ وَالْمُقَفِّي وَالْحَاشِرُ وَنَبِيُّ الرَّحْمَةِ)) وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ ((وَنَبِيُّ التَّوْبَةِ وَنَبِيُّ الْمَلْحَمَةِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned some of his names to us, some of which we remembered. He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: I am Muhammad, Ahmad, Muqaffi, Hashir, and the Prophet of Mercy. Yazid, the narrator, said: And I am the Prophet of Repentance and the Prophet of Battle.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … **Al-Muqaffā**: Its literal meaning is: one who was made to follow behind someone. The intended meaning is that personality who was brought at the end of the Prophets and Messengers, and with whom the chain of prophethood and messengership was terminated for the future. This blessed name is synonymous with **Al-‘Āqib**.
**Nabiyyur-Rahmah**: The Prophet who is characterized by mercy and who was sent to spread mercy.
**Nabiyyut-Tawbah**: The Prophet who came with the message that the repentance of every remorseful person will be accepted.
**Nabiyyul-Malhamah**: The Prophet who was sent with fighting (qitāl).
**Nabiyyur-Rahmah**: The Prophet who is characterized by mercy and who was sent to spread mercy.
