Hadith 10459

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: There will be twenty-seven liars and impostors in my Ummah, four of whom will be women, while I am the Seal of the Prophets; there will be no prophet after me.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In some narrations, mention is made of thirty false claimants to prophethood. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the Seal of the Prophets (Khatam an-Nabiyyin); after him, no prophet has come nor will come, and whoever makes such a claim will be deemed a liar, a great deceiver, and a Dajjal.

It should be kept in mind that this hadith does not refer to those claimants of prophethood who made a general claim to prophethood, for such people are numerous. The twenty-seven or thirty great liars mentioned in the ahadith are those wretched individuals who, due to their claim, attained prominence and grandeur, and even began to have real doubts about their own prophethood, and then a considerable number of people also followed them. The case of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani is an example of this.

Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah says: Among those Dajjals who claimed prophethood is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani al-Hindi, who, during the period of British colonial rule in India, claimed that he was the Mahdi, then presented himself as ‘Isa alayhis salam, and finally claimed prophethood. Many ignorant people, lacking knowledge of the Qur’an and Sunnah, followed him. I met such individuals from India and Syria who believed in his prophethood. There were many debates and discussions between me and them, including one written debate. In these debates, their claim was that their belief is that after the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, many prophets will come, and among them is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani. In the beginning, they tried to mislead and evade, and attempted to divert from the actual topic of the debate. But I rejected their tricks and remained firm on the main subject. Thus, they suffered a humiliating defeat, and those present realized that this is a people devoted to falsehood.

Some of their other beliefs are also false and contrary to the consensus (ijma‘) of the Ummah. For example: denying bodily resurrection and claiming that Paradise and Hell pertain only to the soul, not the body; that the punishment given to disbelievers will eventually cease; that jinn do not exist, and that those jinn mentioned in the Noble Qur’an are in reality a group of humans.

Whenever these people find a verse of the Qur’an contrary to their beliefs, they interpret it in an unacceptable and rejectable manner, just like the Batiniyyah and Qaramitah, which are deviant sects. For this reason, the British used to support and assist them against the Muslims. Mirza Qadiani used to say that it is forbidden (haram) for Muslims to fight the British. I have authored several books in refutation of them, in which I have clarified that this sect is outside the Jama‘at al-Muslimin. They should be studied. (Sahihah: 1683)
