Hadith 10449

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ امْرَؤُ الْقَيْسِ صَاحِبُ لِوَاءِ الشُّعَرَاءِ إِلَى النَّارِ
Syedna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Imru’ al-Qais will be the standard-bearer of the poets towards Hell.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... Imru’ al-Qais ibn Hujr ibn Harith al-Kindi was a famous poet of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah). He was the first person to compose qasidas (odes) in an organized manner.
He invented verses containing blameworthy matters, and later poets and polytheists followed him in this. Therefore, just as he was their leader in this world, likewise he will be their leader in the Hereafter—but his leadership will be towards Hell.
