عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((كَانَ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ نَجَّارًا))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Zakariya (peace be upon him) was a carpenter.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Zakariya (alayhis salam) used to earn with his own hands. It is possible that the purpose of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was either to encourage adopting the profession of carpentry, or generally to encourage earning a livelihood through one’s own efforts.
