Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Prophet of Allah, Dawud (peace be upon him), was characterized by intense protective jealousy. When he would leave the house, the doors would be locked and no one could come to his family until he returned. One day, as usual, he went out and the house was locked. But when his wife turned towards the house, she saw a man standing in the middle of the house. She said about this man: How did this man enter the house when it was locked? By Allah! We will be disgraced before Dawud. Meanwhile, Dawud (peace be upon him) arrived. When he saw a man in the middle of the house, he said: Who are you? He replied: I am the one who does not fear kings, nor can anything escape me. Dawud (peace be upon him) said: By Allah! You are the Angel of Death. Welcome to the command of Allah. Dawud (peace be upon him) was to be buried at the place where his soul was taken. When the angel finished his task, the sun rose. Sulaiman (peace be upon him) said to the birds: Shade Dawud. So the birds shaded him until the earth became dark for both of them. Sulaiman (peace be upon him) said: Uncover one by one. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) showed us how the birds did it, and at the same time, he (peace and blessings be upon him) closed his blessed hand. On that day, hawks with long wings prevailed over them.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Writing the word الْمَصْرَجیَّۃُ is a scribe’s error; the actual word is: الْمَضْرَحیَّۃُ. We have translated according to the original word.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma), he says: When the verse regarding debt was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Indeed, the first to deny was Adam (alayhis salam), or: the first to deny was Adam. Indeed, when Allah (azza wa jall) created Adam, He wiped his back and brought forth from it all his progeny who would be born until the Day of Resurrection. Then He began to present his progeny before him, and he saw among them a man who was radiant. He said: ‘O my Lord! Who is this?’ Allah said: ‘This is your son Dawud.’ He said: ‘O my Lord! How long is his lifespan?’ Allah said: ‘Sixty years.’ He said: ‘O my Lord! Increase his lifespan.’ Allah said: ‘No, except that it be increased from your own lifespan.’ The lifespan of Adam (alayhis salam) was one thousand years, so he increased Dawud’s lifespan by forty years from his own. Allah (azza wa jall) wrote this down and made the angels witnesses to it. When the time of Adam’s death came and the angels came to seize his soul, he said: ‘Indeed, there are still forty years remaining from my lifespan.’ It was said to him: ‘You have already gifted them to your son Dawud.’ Adam (alayhis salam) said: ‘I did not do so.’ Then Allah (azza wa jall) brought forth the written record and the angels testified to it.” (It is added in another narration:) “So He completed for Dawud one hundred years, and completed for Adam his lifespan of one thousand years.”
