Hadith 10399

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ قَيْسٍ يَقْرَأُ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ أُعْطِيَ هَذَا مِنْ مَزَامِيرِ آلِ دَاوُدَ النَّبِيِّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَفِي لَفْظٍ لَقَدْ أُعْطِيَ أَبُو مُوسَى مَزَامِيرَ دَاوُدَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting and said: He has been given the flutes of the family of Dawud. In another narration: Abu Musa has been given the flutes of Dawud (peace be upon him).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "flute" (bansuri) is meant a beautiful voice, and by "the family of Dawud" (Al Dawud) is meant Dawud (alayhis salam) himself. Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari, whose name is Abdullah bin Qais (radi Allahu anhuma), also used to recite the Noble Qur'an with a beautiful voice.
