عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا مَرَّ بِثَنِيَّةِ هَرْشَاءَ حِينَ حَجَّ قَالَ ((أَيُّ ثَنِيَّةٍ هَذِهِ)) قَالُوا ثَنِيَّةُ هَرْشَاءَ قَالَ ((كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى يُونُسَ بْنِ مَتَّى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ جَعْدَةٍ عَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ مِنْ صُوفٍ خِطَامُ نَاقَتِهِ خُلْبَةٌ)) قَالَ يَعْنِي لِيفًا ((وَهُوَ يُلَبِّي))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the valley of Harshe during the journey of Hajj, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Which valley is this? The people said: This is the valley of Harshe. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is as if I am seeing Yunus bin Matta, he is riding a red, fleshy she-camel, he is wearing a woolen cloak, the bridle of his she-camel is made of palm fibers, and he is reciting the Talbiyah.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … How was Yunus alayhis salam described in the aforementioned state? Two possibilities exist: (1) Just as he used to worship, perform Hajj, and recite the talbiyah in his worldly life, he was presented before you sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in that very form, figuratively; or (2) you sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saw him in this manner in your dream.
