Hadith 10300

Narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, woman was created from a rib, and if you try to straighten the rib, you will break it. So be gentle with her, then she will continue to live with you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: This hadith indicates that Lady Hawwa (alayha as-salam) was created from the left rib of Adam (alayhi as-salam).

It will remain an unfulfilled dream for a man that his wife will fulfill his desires one hundred percent, because Allah Ta’ala has not placed such capability in women, except as Allah wills; perhaps there may be one or two examples in some region. Therefore, the husband should, keeping this nature in mind, also show some patience. In some ahadith, a woman is likened to a rib; the reason for this is that, just as a rib has a certain crookedness, so too is there such crookedness in her character, which does not become straight despite efforts. Therefore, if the positive aspect prevails in women, their negative aspect should be overlooked; however, it is necessary to explain things to them in a good manner.
