Hadith 10258

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, what I see, you cannot see, and what I hear, you cannot hear. (Listen!) The sky creaks, and it is right for it to creak, because there is not even a space of four fingers where there is not an angel prostrating. By Allah! If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much, you would abandon enjoying your wives on your beds, and you would go out to the hills beseeching (Allah). Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! I wish I were a tree that would be cut down.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In this, there is mention of the miracles of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The greatness of Allah Ta’ala, the retaliatory actions upon the disobedient, and the terrifying scenes and severe reckonings at the time of death, in the grave, and on the Day of Resurrection—the knowledge of all these which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam possessed, no member of his community can even estimate. If these conditions and events are kept in view, a Muslim would be overcome with trembling and would begin to sob over the state of his own good end (husn al-khatimah). There is no room for monasticism in Islamic law (Shari‘ah). The meaning of this hadith is that attention should be directed towards Allah Ta’ala, His worship should be increased abundantly, and sins should be avoided.
