Hadith 10256

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ السَّنَةَ لَيْسَ بِأَنْ لَا يَكُونَ فِيهَا مَطَرٌ وَلَكِنَّ السَّنَةَ أَنْ تُمْطِرَنَا السَّمَاءُ وَلَا تُنْبِتَ الْأَرْضُ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, drought is not that rain does not fall, rather drought is that the sky sends down rain but the earth does not produce anything.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Its cause will be the abundance of disobedience and not caring about them.

The absence of rain is also drought, as is established from other texts, but this is a dangerous form of drought: that rain is falling, yet the earth is not producing anything.
