. (Second chain) Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw clouds, his face would change and he would begin to go back and forth. When it started to rain, this state would leave him. When he was asked about the reason for this, he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I have no security regarding this matter; it may be that this is the very thing about which Allah Almighty said: {فَلَمَّا رَاَوْہُ عَارِضًا مُّسْتَقْبِلَ اَوْدِیَتِہِمْ قَالُوْا ھٰذَا عَارِض’‘ مُّمْطِرُنَا بَلْ ھُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُمْ بِہٖرِیْح’‘ فِیْھَا عَذَاب’‘ اَلِیْم’‘۔} Then, when they saw the punishment as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain." (No!) Rather, it is what you were impatient for—a wind wherein is a painful punishment. (Surah Al-Ahqaf: 24)
