It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, Satan has despaired of being worshipped by those who pray in the Arabian Peninsula, but he will continue to incite them to fight and cause discord among themselves.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Some commentators have said: The meaning and purport of the blessed hadith is that Satan has become despondent of any believer in the Arabian Peninsula ever apostatizing and beginning to worship idols and returning to his previous polytheism. If it is objected that the companions of Musaylimah and those who refused to pay zakat, etc., did indeed apostatize, then the answer to this is that they did not worship any idols. However, Mulla Ali Qari has said: From this hadith, it is evident that Satan’s invitation is general, encompassing all types of disbelief, and is not restricted only to idol worship. It is better to interpret this hadith to mean that those who perform prayer (salat) will not, alongside their prayer, worship Satan, as the Jews and Christians did. (See: Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi: 3/127) The second meaning of this hadith is that just as before the advent of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Satan was dominant in the Arabian Peninsula and polytheism and innovation were widespread, he will never again attain such dominance.
