عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ قَالَ فَهَبَّتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ لِمَوْتِ مُنَافِقٍ قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ إِذَا هُوَ قَدْ مَاتَ مُنَافِقٌ عَظِيمٌ مِنْ عُظَمَاءِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey when a very strong wind blew. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is because of the death of a hypocrite." So when we reached Madinah, we saw that one of the prominent hypocrites among the great hypocrites had died.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It has already been mentioned in Hadith number (0232a, 10233) that Allah Ta’ala’s system is not affected by the events of life and death, or happiness and sorrow, that occur on earth.
The wind mentioned in this hadith was, in fact, one of Allah Ta’ala’s armies, through which Allah Ta’ala wished to inform you, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, before your entry into Madinah, that such-and-such hypocrite had died. In this way, for you, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, to consider this wind as a sign of his death was a miracle of yours.
