Brief Explanation
Benefits: … ‘Uthman bin ‘Abdullah bin Saraqah says: We were on a journey, and Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar radi Allahu anhuma was also with us. I asked him about the sale of fruits. He said: The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade selling fruits until the calamity has passed. I said: O Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman! What is it that removes the calamity? He said: The rising of the Thurayya star. (Sahih Bukhari: 1486, Sahih Muslim: 1534, and the wording is from Ahmad)
Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: Thurayya is a star; it rises in the morning at the beginning of the hot season. At that time, in the land of Hijaz, it is the season of intense heat and the ripening of fruits. What is actually considered is the ripening of the fruits themselves; however, its sign is the rising of the Thurayya star.
