It is narrated from Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman that he came to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) while they were disputing over a piece of land. Sayyidah said: O Abu Salamah! Beware of land, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever unjustly seizes even a span of land belonging to someone else, a collar of seven earths will be placed around his neck on the Day of Resurrection.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {اَللّٰہُالَّذِیْخَلَقَسَبْعَسَمٰوٰتٍوَّمِنَالْاَرْضِمِثْلَہُنَّیَـتَنَزَّلُالْاَمْرُبَیْنَہُنَّلِتَعْلَمُوْٓااَنَّاللّٰہَعَلٰیکُلِّشَیْءٍقَدِیْرٌوَّاَنَّاللّٰہَقَدْاَحَاطَبِکُلِّشَیْءٍعِلْمًا } … Allah is He Who created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them. His command descends among them, so that you may know that indeed Allah is Powerful over all things and that Allah has certainly encompassed all things in knowledge. (Surah at-Talaq: 12)
It is understood from this that just as there are seven heavens, there are also seven earths.
The ancients divided the surface of the earth into seven parts, each part being called an "iqlim" (clime/region). Some have interpreted the seven earths as these seven climes. Later, these were called the seven continents. This opinion appears to be the preferred one, for two reasons: (1) In the Qur'an and Hadith, most often the word "al-ard" (the earth) is used in contrast to "as-samawat" (the heavens), which indicates that the earth is, in reality, a single piece. (2) The one who usurps land will have a collar made from the soil of the seven earths placed around his neck, and all seven earths are present in this earth.
If, however, the seven earths are taken to mean seven distinct earths, separate like the heavens, then one of those earths is the one upon which we reside. Where, then, are the remaining six earths? And what creatures inhabit them? These questions are to be consigned to Allah, the Exalted.
