It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, Allah Almighty stretches out His hand at night so that the one who sinned during the day may repent, and He stretches out His hand during the day so that the one who sinned at night may repent. This will continue until the sun rises from the west.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {یَوْمَیَاْتِیْبَعْضُاٰیٰتِرَبِّکَلَایَنْفَعُنَفْسًااِیْمَانُھَالَمْتَکُنْاٰمَنَتْمِنْقَبْلُاَوْکَسَبَتْفِیْٓاِیْمَانِھَاخَیْرًا} … On the Day when any sign of your Lord comes, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before, or had not earned any good through its faith. (Surah Al-An'am: 158)
In this verse, the sign mentioned refers to the rising of the sun from the west. When the sun rises from the west instead of the east, the door of repentance will be closed, and the faith of anyone who believes at that time will not benefit them.
There is no specific time prescribed for repentance; at any time, forgiveness can be sought from Allah, the Exalted. It is a separate matter that at certain times supplications are accepted more swiftly, such as the last part of the night, during prostration, the interval between the call to prayer (adhan) and the commencement (iqamah), the blessed hour on Friday, and so on.
This encourages that whenever a sin is committed, whether by night or day, a person should immediately humble himself before Allah’s court for repentance without delay. Allah, the Exalted, is so Merciful and Compassionate that He awaits the repentance of sinners.
